Carbon Revolution among Corvette E-Ray suppliers awarded for technical excellence

8 December, 2023

Carbon Revolution has been recognised for technical excellence in its supply of single-piece carbon fibre wheels for the 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray.

The E-Ray, along with the General Motors (GM) engineering team and the suppliers for the vehicle, received the 2023 Vehicle Engineering Team Award (VETA) given by the Automotive Division of the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE).

Weight reductions of 41 lbs

Carbon Revolution supplies the 20/21-inch carbon fibre wheels available on the 2024 Corvette E-Ray. The five-spoke, single-piece carbon fibre wheels reduce the E-Ray’s rotating, unsprung mass by 41 lbs compared to the forged aluminium option.

This significant mass reduction improves the lap times on the C8 Corvette Z06 (on which the Carbon Revolution wheels are also available) by 1.5 seconds over a 2-minute lap.

Engineering teams work constructively

Carbon Revolution CEO, Jake Dingle, said it was a great recognition of the cooperation between Carbon Revolution and General Motors engineering teams in developing the wheels.

“We have a wonderful relationship with GM, as we do with all our OEM customers. Awards like this highlight the positive outcome of two closely aligned teams working together to achieve great engineering feats,” Dingle said.

The wheels are available painted in Carbon Flash metallic finish, or with a visible carbon fibre weave, featuring Carbon Revolution’s Diamond Weave Technology™, as well as a visible carbon fibre weave with a red strip and branding option.

In addition, the Carbon Revolution wheels were among two innovations nominated for other awards in SPE’s 2023 Automotive Innovation Awards Competition. The lightweight carbon fibre wheels were nominated for the Aftermarket & Limited Edition/Specialty Vehicles Category.

Awarded since 2004, the VETA recognises the technical achievements of entire teams whose work in research, design, engineering, and manufacturing led to significant integration of polymeric materials on notable vehicles.
