Carbon Revolution has received the 2023 Supplier Quality Excellence Award (SQEA) from General Motors (GM), in recognition of its supply of carbon fibre wheels for the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and E-Ray.
Suppliers who receive the SQEA have met or exceeded GM’s stringent Quality performance criteria and have also received cross-functional support from the entire GM organisation for the 2023 calendar year.
Carbon Revolution CEO, Jake Dingle said the SQEA – which the Company also received in 2022 – was a recognition of Carbon Revolution’s efforts to be a high performing Tier 1 supplier to its global OEM customers.
“We’re pleased to receive this Award again for the 2023 year. It’s an endorsement of the work we have put in to ramp up production of our first two programs with GM,” Dingle said.
Reliable supplier of a world-leading technology
Dingle said the SQEA was an indication of the maturation of Carbon Revolution’s world-leading carbon fibre wheel technology.
“Receiving this award underscores how our lightweight wheel technology is both a world-first and is available at the quality that global OEMs demand,” he said.
Carbon Revolution has worked with General Motors for over five years to develop and supply the carbon fibre wheels available on the Corvette Z06, E-Ray and the recently-revealed Corvette ZR1.
The wheels, which save between 41 and 42.8 lbs. across the vehicle, have been met with widespread acclaim from automotive media and Corvette customers. The improvement in efficiency from the wheels alone reduces the Corvette Z06’s lap time by 1.5 seconds over a two-minute lap, according to GM.
Award-winning collaboration
Earlier in the year Carbon Revolution received a 2024 Automotive News PACE Innovation Partnership Award for its outstanding collaboration with GM. The PACE Awards recognise automotive suppliers for superior innovation, technological advancement, and business performance.
“The combination of the SQEA and the PACE Award within months of each other is a wonderful accolade, underscoring our commitment to forging longstanding, positive relationships with our OEM customers,” Dingle said.
